Four Chicago men face charges including aggravated possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest following a Monday incident that ended in Wilmette with a stolen car striking a tree.

The driver and four passengers scattered after the vehicle hit a tree on the 200 block of Hibbard Road at about 2:50 a.m. Monday, Wilmette Police Cmdr. Michael McGarry said. One person escaped, but police caught up with the other four, according to McGarry.

McGarry said Darion Blackman, 22, of the 2700 block of West Flournoy Street in Chicago, the alleged driver, was charged with one count of aggravated possession of a stolen vehicle.

Keair Donaldson 19 of the 6500 block of South Drexel; Darius Brooks, 19, of the 10,000 block of South Yates Boulevard; and Traevon Hall, 20, of the 6800 block of South Ridgeland Avenue, were all charged with resisting arrest and misdemeanor trespassing to a vehicle, McGarry said.

Blackman was held for a Tuesday bond hearing at Cook County Court in Skokie, and police don’t know his next court date, McGarry said.

Donaldson, Brooks and Hall were released on personal recognizance bonds and have an initial July 23 court date, he said.

McGarry said the incident ended after Wilmette officers assisted a Kenilworth police officer trying to stop the car, which had been reported stolen in Monee, near the intersection of Cumnor and Green Bay roads. The car lost control and skidded into the tree shortly thereafter.
