On Wednesday, Timeline Theatre Company announced casting for Barbara Lebow’s “A Shayna Maidel,” which will open the company’s 22nd season.
A drama about a family ripped apart by an authoritarian government, the story begins with Rose and her father, Mordechai Weiss, who escaped Poland for New York City before World War II. Forced to leave behind Rose’s sister, Lusia, and her mother, Rose reunites with her sister years later, after Lusia has survived the horrors of war overseas.
In her Timeline debut, director Vanessa Stalling will lead a cast featuring Emily Berman as Lusia and Bri Sudia as Rose. The production also includes Hanna Dworkin as Mama, Charles Stransky as Mordechai, Alex Stein as Duvid and Sarah Wisterman as Hanna.
“A Shayna Maidel” will run Aug. 22 through Nov. 4 at Timeline’s home stage, 615 W. Wellington Ave.
