A fire completely destroyed a garage in the 4600 block of Johnson Avenue Monday night.
Western Springs Department of Fire and Emergency Services received a call at 6:43 p.m. Monday of a garage fire, said fire chief Patrick Kenny.
“Upon the fire department’s arrival, the initial unit reported a fully involved garage, with possible exposures to the adjacent structures,” Kenny said, adding that a neighbor saw the fire and alerted the homeowner.
Kenny said firefighters from Hinsdale and La Grange were sent to the Wolf Road side of the fire to control any possible exposure damage.
“Once we got water on it, it took 5 minutes, maximum, to put it out,” Kenny said. “The garage was completely gone; there also was some siding damage to the house.”
Kenny said there were no vehicles inside the garage at the time of the fire.
“It could have been a lot worse,” he said, noting that there were no injuries and the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
“There’s no reason to believe it wasn’t accidental,” he said.
