A pedestrian was injured Thursday morning as he walked near Prairie Street and Orchard Road in Aurora, police said.
The pedestrian was transported to an Aurora hospital with injuries after being struck around 11:35 a.m.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian, Dennis Rokop of Aurora, told police he was stopped westbound on Prairie Street, waiting to turn right onto Orchard Road. He said he looked and saw no pedestrians and began making his turn when the pedestrian was suddenly in front of him.

Rokop’s vehicle struck the pedestrian’s left leg, police said.
Rokop was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
