A 5-year-old boy was critically wounded in a shooting Monday in the far south suburb of Ford Heights, authorities said.
The shooting occurred about 11 a.m. in the 1100 block of Drexel Avenue, according to Sam Randall, a spokesman for the Cook County sheriff’s office, which provides police services to the suburb.
The child was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition, Randall said. His current condition was unknown.
Randall declined to provide any details about the circumstances leading up the the incident but said the shooting remained under investigation.
