Two women were robbed about a minute apart Wednesday in the Old Town neighborhood of Chicago’s Near North Side, according to police.
About 7 p.m., a 26-year-old woman was approached by two unknown men or boys while walking home in the 1400 block of North Orleans Street. The males announced a robbery, and one of them showed a handgun, police said. They took some of the woman’s belongings and fled as she ran into the street for help, police said.
About a minute later in the 1300 block of North Wells Street, two unknown males, described as 17 to 20 years old, came up behind a 40-year-old woman, hit her elbow and took her “property,” police said. The robbers left on foot.
No one is in custody in either robbery, and area central detectives are investigating.
