Singer-songwriter Bono dined on Dearborn Street earlier this week, sources said.

Band U2 is playing back-to-back shows at the United Center, part of the group’s eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE tour, and insiders say Bono had dinner at Mastro’s Steakhouse around 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

Another diner is said to have sighted the singer having a low-key pasta and seafood dinner with a friend. Upon noticing Bono, the patron purchased a round of McCallan scotch on the rocks for the pair, said a publicist who works with the restaurant.

Rumors had circulated that Bono had caught the Courtney Barnett concert at the Chicago Cultural Center on Monday night, but show organizers do not believe he attended the Australian singer’s show.

“A gentleman claiming to be Bono came to the show,” said organizer Brent Heyl in an email. “Upon further investigation we are 99 percent sure that it was not him. We can’t confirm or deny absolutely that it was or was not him, but no one from his camp gave us a heads up as to Bono planning to attend the show.”

“Thinking that more likely it was Bongo,” Heyl joked.
