A faculty member at Walter Payton College Prep is being investigated following allegations of “inappropriate behavior” with a former student, according to a letter sent to the school community.
“The employee has been removed from their position pending the outcome of an investigation,” according to the letter, sent Friday to students, faculty and parents at the elite magnet school.
“Our top priority is ensuring students have a safe learning environment, and inappropriate staff conduct will not be tolerated,” Emily Bolton, a spokeswoman for Chicago Public Schools, said in an emailed statement. “The teacher was removed from his position following allegations of misconduct and we will proceed with appropriate disciplinary measures pending the outcome of the matter.”
