On Tuesday, A Red Orchid Theatre announced its 2018-19 season lineup, including two Chicago premieres and a production one of Eugene Ionesco’s final plays.

Things kick off in the late fall with the Chicago premiere of “Small Mouth Sounds” by Bess Wohl (Oct. 18-Dec. 9). Directed by ensemble member Shade Murray and featuring ensemble members Jennifer Engstrom and Larry Grimm, the show follows six urbanites as they attempt to work through their issues at a secluded spiritual retreat.

Another Chicago premiere follows with “Fulfillment Center” by Abe Kugler (Jan. 31-March 24, 2019). The production chronicles four people from different walks of life as they look for their own fulfillment at mundane jobs inside a giant retailer’s shipping center. Jess McLeod will direct, while ensemble members Steve Haggard and Natalie West will be featured.

Wrapping up the season will be “The Killing Game” by Eugene Ionesco, directed by ensemble member Dado and featuring Lance Baker, Mierka Girten and Doug Vickers (May 2-June 23, 2019). The bleak and darkly humorous show tells the story of a town beset by plague and panic, creating opportunity for some and paranoia for others.
