Have you ever been talking a stroll through Chicago among the seas of people and thought, “You know, I wish there were dogs and cats around here, just waiting to be petted”?

Here at the RedEye newsroom, we’re not afraid to admit that we have.

This Sunday, PAWS Chicago will make that dream a reality with the 21st annual Angels with Tails Gold Coast event, when 40 different stores and stops in Gold Coast will host more than 100 adoptable dogs, cats, puppies and kittens with whom people can come and engage.

The adorable event begins at noon Sunday and lasts until 4 p.m., featuring various types of locations along Oak Street, Rush Street, Delaware Place and Walton Street. By bringing the animals closer downtown, the PAWS press release says it “(brings) homeless pets to the forefront of public awareness,” and Angels with Tails is considered PAWS’ “signature adoption event.”

Five other shelters will join PAWS in the effort, including Chicago Animal Care and Control, Chicago English Bulldog Rescue, Greyhounds Only, Treehouse Humane Society and Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue.

All of the animals will be available for adoption, and you can find the adoption process on their website. People can simply get to know them as well. After all, adoption is a big commitment, and animals are very cute and like to socialize. Everyone wins!

You can find the full list of participants and a map of their locations on the Angels with Tails website.
