Two people were shot early Friday at a gas station in South Holland, authorities said.

Police responded about 1 a.m. to a call that shots had been fired at the Gas Depot at 15 E. Sibley Blvd., according to a news release from the South Holland Police Department.

When police arrived, they saw the victims’ vehicle parked at a fuel pump. A woman who was a front-seat passenger sustained a bullet wound to her hand, and a man who was a rear seat passenger suffered a graze wound to his face believed to have been caused by a bullet fragment, according to the release. The driver of the vehicle was uninjured.

The victims, both in their early 20s, were taken to an area hospital for treatment. Their injuries were described as non-life threatening, according to the release.

No details were provided in the release about who may have fired the shots. Police asked that anyone with information about the shooting please call South Holland police detectives at 708-331-3131.
