Chicago loves Italian beef. So, in a time when in seems like there’s a food festival for practically every bite under the sun, it is perhaps a slight surprise that our city had no proper celebration for its favorite sandwich.

If you were about to leap up and remedy that discrepancy, you can sit back down — Revolution Brewing has it covered. On Saturday, May 26 (which is apparently National Italian Beef Day) Revolution will team up with Al’s Beef, Mr. Beef and Buona Beef to host the city’s first-ever Italian Beef Fest at the Revolution Tap Room (3340 N. Kedzie Ave.).

According to the event listing, the event will include beef and beer, of course: three four-inch Italian beef sandwiches and three seven-ounce Revolution pours. Elliott Bambrough from “Chicago’s Best” will make a guest appearance, while guests can also take part in a beef-eating contest, if that’s your type of thing. There are two different sessions for the Saturday event, noon to 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Tickets are available at Revolution’s website for $30 each. $5 from each ticket sale will be donated to the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation.
