The summer is kicking off with a slew of festivals around the city. Up this week are Cantina Crawl in Pilsen and brews at Soldier Field.

Cantina Crawl 2018

When: May 5

Where: Pilsen

How much:

$35

The skinny:

Jump on the trolley or walk down 18th Street to honor Cinco de Mayo in Pilsen while drinking 10 different cocktails at 10 venues. Enjoy drinks — including craft tequila and mezcal cocktails — and food while listening to live bands and DJs and enjoying the murals and culture of Pilsen. The event is the annual fundraiser for Pilsen Fest (Aug. 18-19).

Chicago Beer Classic

When: May 5

Where:

Near South Side

How much: Currently GA: $55, VIP: $65. Prices will go up on April 29.

The skinny: Sip your way around Soldier Field with over 70 Chicago and visiting breweries, including local favorites Great Central Brewing Company, Empirical Brewing and Lake Effect Brewing Company. In addition to sampling a variety of beers (and voting on their favorites), attendees have the chance to chat with brewers about their process and products. The fest features more than 30 Chicago breweries, food trucks, activities (including making a pretzel necklace to nosh on while drinking and a competition for best necklace) and of course beer pong. All attendees have the opportunity to feel part of the action, by entering Soldier Field through the tunnel and purchasing tickets for a stadium tour.
