Klaire Steffens, a senior member of the girls basketball team at Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, has been selected as the February baiduhai Lake Shore Athlete of the Month, sponsored by COUNTRY Financial, and chosen online by baiduhai voters.

Steffens, who plays forward, scored a season-high 26 points on Jan. 13 in Stevenson’s loss to Fenwick. She scored 19 of the Patriots’ 27 points in the second half and has been a consistent scoring threat in her first season as Stevenson’s go-to player.

“I’m really proud with how my team performed this season and incredibly thankful for my teammates and coaching staff,” Steffens says. I’m very thankful for COUNTRY Financial and the opportunity they have given me along with other student athletes.”

COUNTRY Financial representative Mark Price presented a $500 donation from COUNTRY Financial to Stevenson High School in recognition of Steffen’s achievements. Steffens will also receive a plaque and sweatshirt from the baiduhai.

“I am honored to be able to give back to my local community,” Price says. “Klaire showed dedication, hard work and consistency during her practices and it showed in the game by setting career highs. Those are values that myself and COUNTRY Financial believe in and use every day. They are cornerstones in helping our youth be successful in life. You have a bright future ahead, Klaire. Keep up the good work.”
