Health care can sometimes be a hurdle and not always helpful.

It might be that people do not have insurance or it might be that you just don’t have access. This is why urgent care facilities are an important aspect of health care. You may have a child who is sick and needs medication that cannot wait until normal business hours the next day. The doctor’s office is closed, the health department is closed. What are you supposed to do?

NorthShore Health Centers provides Urgent Care for those who need to be treated after hours, but whose condition is not serious enough to warrant a trip to the emergency room. No appointment is necessary and patients coming to urgent care will be treated by a board certified physician. NorthShore has two full-time urgent care facilities open from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday in Portage and Lake Station. They also have a facility in Hammond available for appointments Monday through Friday but open for urgent care from 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays.

NorthShore Health Centers Urgent Care provides treatment for strains/sprains, cuts/bruises/scrapes, fractures, colds/flu/cough, minor burns/skin rashes, minor procedures, and exposures (any minor condition that is acute and not chronic).
