A Sugar Grove woman was either grazed by a bullet or hit with debris when her car was shot Tuesday night in North Aurora, police said.
An anonymous caller reported hearing six gunshots but seeing nothing about 10:40 p.m. Tuesday on the 200 block of Linn Court, according to a news release from North Aurora Deputy Chief Scott Buziecki.
North Aurora officers responded to the court, but initially found no evidence of shots fired, police said.
Then police were alerted to a possible gunshot victim in the Woodman’s Market parking lot on the 100 block of Hansen Boulevard. Officers met with a 24-year-old woman, of the 400 block of Brookhaven Circle in Sugar Grove, who had a wound on her arm, Buziecki said. Several bullets had struck her silver Chevy Malibu, and some went through the windows, he said.
Police said she told them the shooting had occurred around the same time and location as the anonymous caller reported it.
The woman went to Linn Court to pick up a 32-year-old Aurora man, of the 600 block of North Edgelawn, police said. She was backing out of a parking space when at least one male walked up to the passenger side of the car, where the Aurora man was sitting, and shot at it, Buziecki said. The woman sped off, police said.

Neither the woman nor her passenger provided a description of the shooter or shooters, but said it was one or two males, police said.
After learning of the car shot, officers went back to Linn Court, where they found broken glass in a parking space, shell casings in the grass and bullet holes in a black Chevy Equinox parked nearby, police said.
Buziecki said police have not determined a motive for the shooting.
North Aurora police said they’re continuing to investigate and are asking anyone with information to call investigators at 630-897-8705, Ext. 610, or for anonymous tips, to call the same number but choose option three. Police said people can also call Aurora Area Crime Stoppers, 630-892-1000, and qualify for a reward for information that leads to a felony arrest.
