A 19-year-old Bristol man was injured in a shooting early Saturday morning on Aurora’s Near Southeast Side, police said Monday.

Aurora patrol officers responded to the area near Hinman Street and Seventh Avenue after receiving several calls about shots fired and people fleeing the area in various directions about 12:15 a.m. Saturday, police said on Facebook.

Police said they later learned the teen had walked into an Aurora hospital with a gunshot wound that did not appear life-threatening.

Based on their investigation, police said an armed suspect standing near the intersection was seen shooting at an occupied vehicle and getting into a white SUV parked east of the intersection. Police said the SUV took off eastbound, while the vehicle the gunman shot at drove away westbound on Seventh Avenue. No description was available for that vehicle.

Police said the suspect was described as male, about 6’1″ and thin, with shoulder-length dreadlocks. He was wearing dark clothing at the time of the shooting, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information to call investigators at 630-256-5500 or crime stoppers at 630-892-1000.
