It’s so hard to say goodbye to a loyal shoe brand that has faithfully supplied your favorite strappy sandals and playful pumps. But the good news is, you don’t have to — just yet.
On Friday, Nine West, the women’s shoe and accessory retailer, filed for bankruptcy in New York, citing declining mall traffic as one of the contributors to falling sales.
But don’t go getting ready for a liquidation sale. Filing agreements allow the chain to stay in business while it tries to pay back creditors.
The brand sells products in more than 1,200 locations, including malls and outlets.
So if you’re in need of pretty pumps for prom, or the perfect pair of slingback wedges for a spring wedding, head over to Nine West — it’s likely they’ll appreciate the business.
