An 18-year-old Rolling Meadows man was sentenced Thursday to four years prison in the shooting and wounding of a man during a confrontation in Arlington Heights two years ago.

Jonathan Argueta-Hernandez, of the 5400 block of Chateau Drive, pleaded guilty in Cook County Circuit Court to aggravated discharge of a firearm. He was originally charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, but that charge was amended in exchange for his plea.

Argueta-Hernandez was 16 when he was arrested in October 2016 for firing shots at a group of people in a parking lot in the 1100 block of Algonquin Road, prosecutors said. An 18-year-old man was wounded in the buttocks by the gunfire, prosecutors said.

The incident occurred in August 2016, and Argueta-Hernandez was identified after police reviewed video surveillance footage, prosecutors said. Argueta-Hernandez was a juvenile but was automatically transferred to adult court because of the nature of the crime, prosecutors said.
