Breakfast with the Bunny and Eggstravaganza are among the Glenview Park District’s most popular traditions.

The events mark the start of spring each year, organizers say. This year both the buffet breakfast and free egg hunt were held at the Park Center on March 31.

Andy Swinkunas of the Glenview Park District said Saturday’s attendance at the breakfast was higher than last year. The event, he said, provided families an opportunity to meet and have photos taken with Easter Bunny.

“Working on the breakfast was a true team effort,” Swinkunas said, “It’s really satisfying to see everyone enjoying themselves and the children having such a blast.”

Andrew Callas said the morning event was worth the early wake-up time.

“The Glenview breakfast was so worth getting up for,” Callas said. “The kids were so hyped up for Easter and meeting them filled me with such a glow of fun.”

Eggstravaganza kicked off after the breakfast and had an estimated 400 participants gathering up some 8,500 eggs filled with chocolate, taffy and toys.

“It’s so important to us to have eggs enough for everyone and that no one goes home empty handed,” said Daniel Bregman, the event’s supervisor.

Park District staff were joined by Key Club volunteers from Glenbrook South High School who assisted with egg distribution and event set up.

“On this rainy cold morning my daughter was very worried that we wouldn’t be able to collect Easter eggs due to the weather,” Kerri Duffy said. “I was so happy to be able to tell her that we live in the awesome town of Glenview where Eggstravaganza takes place inside.”

Vasilious Soupos of Glenview said that he and his family haven’t lived in Glenview very long.

“We come to the Park Center with our kids for dance classes and other holiday celebrations,” Soupos said. “We came today for this spring celebration because we wanted to meet new families in our area.”
