Trustee Jay Reyes, who cast the lone dissenting vote, declined to comment on his position, stating in an email that he felt speaking publicly about personnel matters was “inappropriate.”
All contracts are effective in the coming fiscal year, which starts July 1, 2018, according to public relations coordinator Stephen Butera.
Under a renewed one-year contract, Vice President of Business Services Sean Sullivan will receive a $221,020 salary, a tax-sheltered annuity stipend of $2,400, a $550 monthly allowance for auto expenses, a $150 per month cellphone allowance and $300 for an annual medical exam.
Sullivan will also get life insurance set at a minimum of three times the amount of his new contract’s salary and stipend. Triton tuition and fees will be waived for himself, his spouse and his children, and his children’s waiver will continue for five years after his employment ends. Additionally, when he leaves Triton, his insurance eligibility will extend five years past the limits of the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act.
Sullivan has held his current position 20 years, according to Triton’s website.
Vice President of Academic Affairs Debra Baker will receive the same auto and phone allowances as Sullivan, in addition to a $188,700 salary, her one-year contract states.
Neither Sullivan nor Baker is receiving increases in salary or benefits compared to their previous contracts, according to Butera.
Baker was appointed to her current role two years ago. Other administrators whose contracts were renewed include deans, associate deans, an assistant dean, an assistant vice president, executive directors, directors, a special assistant and an administrator.
The contracts were renewed as part of the board’s approval of the administrative section of its human resources report.
Additionally, as part of that vote, the board made a permanent offer to Susan Campos, who has been working as dean of health careers and public service programs in a probationary capacity since being named to the position in summer 2017, according to Butera. Campos previously worked at Triton as faculty and program coordinator for the college’s nuclear medicine program.
Under the contract offer approved on March 27, she will make a salary of $124,500 in the coming fiscal year.
