First team

David Buh, Benet, senior, forward: One of three Redwings to receive all-conference recognition, Buh was the unquestioned leader for a group that went 27-5 and won a sectional title. He averaged a team-high 13.4 points to go with three assists and 2.5 rebounds a game while shooting 46 percent.

Ethan Helwig, Metea Valley, junior, guard: Helwig’s production went up considerably during his second year on varsity. The unanimous all-conference selection increased his scoring average from 11.7 points as a sophomore to 15.8 as a junior. He averaged five rebounds and 2.9 assists while converting on a team-high 61 3-pointers.

Chris Johnson, Naperville North, senior, forward: Johnson, the conference most valuable player, was the engine that made the Huskies go. Despite missing six games with a concussion, he averaged 12.9 points and a team-high eight rebounds for a 26-3 team. The three-time all-conference selection recorded five double-doubles.

Tyler O’Brien, Naperville Central, senior, guard: A unanimous all-conference selection, O’Brien was a steady floor presence for a 20-10 team. He averaged 11.9 points and 2.4 assists to go with a team-high 66 3-pointers.

Tom Welch, Naperville North, junior, guard/forward: The versatile Welch provided a matchup problem for opponents inside and outside. As one of three Naperville North players to earn all-conference honors, he led the team with 13.5 points while averaging 6.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists.

Second team

Eric Cannon, Waubonsie Valley, junior, guard: Cannon picked up his play in earning all-conference honors for a second straight year. He increased his scoring average from 10 points as a sophomore to 14.3 as a junior. Second on the team with 2.6 assists, he shot 37.6 percent in making a team-high 80 3-pointers.

Colin Crothers, Benet, sophomore, center: Joining teammates Buh and Jake Petrovic as all-conference selections, Crothers’ second year on the varsity showed growth. For a team that won a sectional title for the third time since 2014, he averaged 9.8 points and 5.8 rebounds while shooting 47 percent from the field.

Jack Hill, Naperville North, senior, guard: Hill, a unanimous all-conference pick, gave the Huskies a strong perimeter scorer to complement Johnson and Welch. He averaged 12.5 points and 2.6 assists in 29 games. He shot 44 percent in making a team-high 63 3-pointers.

Marcus Skeete, Waubonsie Valley, sophomore, guard/forward: Skeete’s play picked up during the year as he got more comfortable on varsity. The all-conference honoree finished second on the team to Cannon with 10.6 points while pulling down a team-high 5.6 rebounds.

Ben Wolf, Naperville Central, senior, center: Wolf, another Redhawks player who was unanimously named to the all-conference team, was a fixture inside. The Northern Michigan-bound center averaged 11 points and a team-high 4.9 rebounds in 27 games.
