An extra-alarm fire broke out Monday night in a five-story apartment building in the Edgewater Beach neighborhood but was quickly brought under control with only one minor injury, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

Around 8:40 p.m., firefighters were called out to a fire in an occupied apartment building in the 5700 block of North Kenmore Avenue. The fire was declared under control by about 9:30 p.m.

One person suffered a minor injury related to the fire, according to the Fire Department.

The five-story, four-plus-one-style apartment building had fire in the walls on two floors, apparently in parts of the walls that house plumbing, according to the Fire Department’s Twitter account.

The building has 72 units, according to the Fire Department.
