An Aurora man broke into an elderly woman’s home near Naperville before forcing her to travel to a nearby bank, according to a DuPage County Sheriff’s office news release.
Around 7:15 a.m. Friday, deputies responded to a report of a home invasion in an unincorporated area near Naperville.
The woman told deputies that a man had broken into her home and demanded that she take him to a local bank in an attempt to retrieve her money, according to the release.
Once they arrived back at her home, the woman was able to fight off the man, who fled the house after stealing her vehicle, according to the release.
After a manhunt was called, the woman’s vehicle was located by a Napervillle police officer at a local motel. At the motel, police say they located Thaddeus A. Jones, 21, of Aurora.
After a brief attempt to evade police, he was located on motel property, according to the release.
Jones was charged with home invasion, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery and possession of a stolen motor vehicle, among other felonies, according to the release.
He appeared in court Saturday morning where bond was set at $1.5 million. He is being held at the DuPage County Jail.
He is next set to appear in court April 16.
