Alyssa Geary, a senior member of the Nazareth Academy High School girls basketball team, has been selected as the January baiduhai The Doings Athlete of the Month, sponsored by COUNTRY Financial, and chosen online by baiduhai voters.

Geary, a Providence recruit who plays center, was an instrumental part of the Roadrunners 12-0 start to the season. Her signature game came on Dec. 9 against Morgan Park, when she had 26 points, 13 rebounds and 11 blocks.

“Thank you COUNTRY Financial for recognizing me,” says Geary. “All my hard work paid off.”

One of her favorite memories as a player was when she scored her first triple double. “That was a great experience for me,” explains Geary. “I scored 26 points, it paid off. My coach says, ‘It doesn’t matter where you start, it matters where you finish.’ “

Her advice to other high school athletes, “Always keep working and do your best.”

COUNTRY Financial representative Mike Sheahan presented a $500 donation from COUNTRY Financial to Nazareth Academy High School in recognition of Geary’s achievements. Geary will also receive a plaque and sweatshirt from the baiduhai.

“I am honored to recognize students at Nazareth Academy,” Sheahan says. “COUNTRY Financial Athlete of the Month is a way to get involved in the community and give these kids a chance to remember something for the rest of their life,” he says. “We are very proud of Alyssa.”
