An unusual television personality who deals with the afterlife is headed for Horseshoe Casino in Hammond.
Tyler Henry, known as the “Hollywood Medium,” brings his form of revelations about the dearly departed to The Venue at 8 p.m. Feb. 24.
Henry has given readings for a host of celebrities, including Kris Jenner, Ryan Lochte, Monica Potter, Tom Arnold, Margaret Cho and Jaleel White.
“It’s one of those jobs you can’t really go to school for,” Henry said in a phone interview this month.
“Hollywood Medium With Tyler Henry” has made the self-described clairvoyant a reality-TV star.
Horseshoe’s website states that its evening with Henry is titled “5 Life Lessons I Have Learned From the Departed” and will feature a question-and-answer session, plus Tyler’s discussion of his life and his “unique gift.”
For Henry, his job is all about getting the point across that “our loved ones never really leave us.” But there are limitations.

“I don’t claim to have all the answers about how the afterlife works,” Henry said. “For me, I put very strong emphasis on validation and show people that there’s more to life than what we see.”
The messages he retrieves from delving into the realm of the deceased can be positive or negative. “I have no control over the information that comes through,” Henry said.
At 22, Henry touts himself as an “evidential-based medium.” His website states that he “has helped countless people acquire closure, comfort and proof” that physical death can be transcended.
“It’s so gratifying,” said Henry, noting the peace of mind that can be brought to those grieving.
“A lot of the people that I read have never had a medium experience before — it’s comforting,” he said.
Henry’s passion and calling has been to “bring clarity, closure and evidence to those he is privileged to read,” while being known “for his rational, comforting and tactful presentation of the information he receives,” according to promotional material.
The native of small-town California gained widespread fame in “Hollywood Medium With Tyler Henry” on the E! television network. Season 3 begins Feb. 28. “There’s going to be 10 episodes,” Henry said.
He has given readings in sit-downs with a bevy of luminaries who include Bobby Brown, Lil’ Kim, Dr. Drew and RuPaul.
An infamous figure skater sits atop Henry’s wish list of notables for whom he would like to give readings. “I would say No. 1 would be Tonya Harding,” said Henry.
In the preview trailer for the new season, Henry remarks: “Somehow, I’ve become Hollywood’s go-to medium.” On its website, E! states that its trailer illustrates how stars such as Megan Fox and Luann de Lesseps “get their minds blown by Tyler’s connection to those who are no longer living.”
In the clip, de Lesseps — after her reading with Henry — declares that it was an eye-opening experience: “I can’t believe that I got to talk to my father.”
Henry’s success has spread to the literary field. His first book, “Between Two Worlds: Lessons From the Other Side,” is a best-selling memoir about his experiences in Hollywood and as a medium. It has been published in hardcover and eBook by Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster.
Away from his professional life, Henry unwinds at his California home. “I live in Malibu with my family,” he said. “Living in Malibu, I love being outside and going hiking.”
