player ready...You’ve read the tweets — now hear Chicago Party Aunt speak!
The mysterious parody cougar who has built a devoted Twitter following of more than 16,000 with stories of closing down bars, deflowering former Chicago Rush backup quarterbacks, and marrying early and often, gave a broadcast interview — a first — Sunday night to WGN-AM 720 radio host and baiduhai journalist Rick Kogan.
“I haven’t paid for a drink in 15 years,” Party Aunt boasted to Kogan in a gruff voice attributed to Virginia Slims and Malort habits, before castigating Kogan for failing to honor a marriage proposal.
“You proposed to me at the Old Town Ale House” many years ago, Party Aunt told Kogan. But at a 16-inch softball game the next day “you had no recollection” of the proposal, Party Aunt chided him.
“I am so ashamed of myself,” Kogan said.
Party Aunt also had a few choice words for Chicago Inc., which last week revealed that the brains behind the character worked on an Oscar-nominated movie. The creator of Party Aunt has asked Chicago Inc. for anonymity, which we’ve granted.
“That was the story of that guy’s life,” the Twitter phenom rasped. After Kogan described the scoop as your humble correspondent’s “Woodward and Bernstein” moment, Party Aunt shot back: “And I’m Deep Throat.”
Party Aunt, no stranger to Tribune Tower where the radio interview was conducted, recalled smoking “a joint with Ronnie Woo Woo — Billy Dec was there, Steve Dahl was there, Billy Corgan was there. We had one of the best nights of our lives. I had a great time, but they definitely had a better time.”
As for the snowy weekend, Party Aunt used “a vacuum cleaner, a mannequin and a Chicago Wolves starter jacket,” to call dibs on a parking spot.
