A 28-year-old Chicago man has been arrested in connection with a robbery of an Elmwood Park bank Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Elmwood Park police and the FBI are investigating the robbery that took place just before 4 p.m. at the U.S. Bank branch in the 7300 block of West Grand Avenue.

About a half-hour after the robbery, the man was arrested by Chicago Police Department officers near the Brickyard Shopping Mall, Elmwood Park Police Chief Frank Fagiano said. Pioneer Press is not naming the man because charges have not yet been filed.

Fagiano said no one was injured in the robbery.

The man demanded cash from a teller and said he had a gun, Fagiano said. A tracker was included with the cash taken by the man, Fagiano said.

“This arrest is an example of good collaborative teamwork with the Chicago Police Department,” Fagiano said.

FBI spokesman Garrett Croon declined to comment on the incident.
