Northlake police have issued an arrest warrant for aggravated fleeing and eluding for a 35-year-old Chicago man who police said led them on a high-speed chase that ended on Chicago’s West Side.
Police said they were responding to an armed robbery that reportedly took place at 3:18 a.m. Jan. 21 at Speedway, 2145 Mannheim Road.

Police believe the van was the getaway vehicle in an early morning armed robbery of Speedway. Police said a man walked into the store, showed a small-caliber, semi-automatic handgun and ran out with an undetermined amount of cash. Police said the man fired off a shot at two employees who followed him out of the store before getting into a red Dodge Caravan and driving off east on Dickens Avenue.
A van speeding from the area at North and Cornell avenues was spotted by Northlake police, and it was pulled over. The van then drove off when another Northlake squad car arrived, police said. Both squads pursued the vehicle in a five-mile, nine-minute chase at speeds reaching 80 mph before police ended the chase, for safety reasons, at Division Street and Central Avenue, according to police.
Police said the van was later recovered by Chicago police in the 1100 block of North Pine Avenue.
Northlake police continue to investigate.
