Anna Gruvberger, a sophomore member of the Hinsdale Central High School girls swimming team, has been selected as the December baiduhai The Doings Athlete of the Month, sponsored by COUNTRY Financial, and chosen online by baiduhai voters.

Gruvberger was seeded 32nd in the 100-yard butterfly going into the girls swimming state meet, but she ended up fourth in 55.43 seconds. Her time on Nov. 18 in Winnetka established a program record. Gruvberger was not tapered at the sectional meet when she touched the wall in 57.57.

“The goal this year was to be in the top 12 so I’m really stoked to be in the top four,” Gruvberger says. “Thank you to everyone who voted for me. It’s an honor.”

Mike Rogala, a COUNTRY Financial representative in Bolingbrook, presented a $500 donation from COUNTRY Financial to Hinsdale Central High School in recognition of Gruvberger’s achievements. Gruvberger will also receive a plaque and sweatshirt from the baiduhai.

Bob Barber, head girls swimming coach for the Red Devils, is very proud of Gruvberger’s achievement.

“We’re very fortunate to have someone like Anna swim for the program,” Barber says. “Thank you to COUNTRY Financial for their support and recognition for all of these student athletes.”
