A 23-year-old Palatine man who struck and injured a young woman as he was driving in reverse in the parking lot of Palatine High School last fall was sentenced Monday to two years in prison.
Gerson Aguilar-Torres pleaded guilty in Cook County Circuit Court to aggravated reckless driving in connection with the Oct. 11 incident. Other charges were dropped.
Assistant State’s Attorney Kristin Piper said Aguilar-Torres was backing up at a high rate of speed when his car struck the 17-year-old. The woman suffered a concussion, a knee injury, bruises, and cuts, she said.
Aguilar-Torres, of the 0-10 block of Dundee Quarter Drive, has been in custody since the incident and will be credited for 154 days of prison time.
