Barcelona Turkish international midfielder Arda Turan is reported to be in negotiations with the Chicago Fire to play in MLS.

British newspaper The Daily Mail revealed this weekend that “Barcelona and Turkish midfielder Arda Turan are in negotiations on a possible transfer to Chicago.”

The Daily Mail reports that after the 160-million-euro acquisition of Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho, and the possible arrivals of French forward Antoine Griezmann and Colombian defender Yerry Mina, Barcelona could be looking to let go of multiple players on the current toster.

Turan, who has not been part of manager Ernesto Valverde’s plans this season, has also been offered to teams in England and Italy, without any team showing particular interest in signing him. His only playing time in the last few months came in World Cup qualifying matches with Turkey against Ukraine and Iceland.

Turan, 30 (turns 31 in January), has 100 caps for the Turkish national team, and since his arrival in Barcelona in 2015, has made 36 appearances, scoring five goals.

Aside from Turan, Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas and Colombian midfielder Juan Quintero, both part of Portuguese side Porto, have also been rumored as possible objectives for the Chicago Fire, while the contract renewals of German midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger and Brazilian midfielder Juninho (whose rights belong to Mexican club Tijuana, and is looking for a loan or sale to an MLS team) are still pending.
