McDonald’s officially launches its $1 $2 $3 Dollar Menu at locations nationwide Thursday, as fast-food chains gear up for a new price war this year.
Oak Brook-based McDonald’s new value menu offers beef and chicken offerings at each tier. It also includes Happy Meals for $3 and introduces the new Classic Chicken Sandwich at the same price.
Industry insiders have predicted that McDonald’s new value menu will force competitors to also lower prices through new promotions.
That seems to be the case so far. On Wednesday, Wendy’s announced an expanded 4 for $4 value menu. Last month, Taco Bell said it would expand its dollar menu and, on Wednesday, unveiled plans for $1 Nacho Fries with cheese dipping sauce.
And, despite opposition from hundreds of franchisees, Subway plans to relaunch its $5 Footlong.
