Two students were ordered to leave Oak Park School District 97 schools last month after officials determined they did not live within the school district’s boundaries.

The District 97 board voted unanimously Dec. 19 to require the two students, who were not identified by name, to leave the school district by Dec. 22 after evidence and testimony was presented at a residency hearing on Dec. 6.

The board also voted to charge the parents of the students for the days they attended class at a District 97 school based on the annual per-student tuition charge of $13,269.34, officials said.

Laurie Campbell, assistant superintendent for human resources, declined to say where the two students were determined to live by the district’s investigation.

“We cannot disclose the details other than that they are not residents of Oak Park,” Campbell said.

The two students were the first to be removed from District 97 during the 2017-18 school year, Campbell said.

No students were removed from District 97 during the 2015-16 or 2016-17 school years, Campbell said.
