The Bears coach presided over a 23-10 loss to the Vikings on Sunday afternoon at U.S. Bank Stadium, expected to be his last game with the organization after three seasons at the helm.
While the Vikings clinched a first-round playoff bye with the victory, the Bears finished the year 5-11 and 0-6 in the NFC North. The loss brought Fox’s record over three seasons with the Bears to 14-34.
The Vikings led from their first drive of the game, when they marched 70 yards and scored on Latavius Murray’s 1-yard touchdown run.
They pulled ahead 14-0 early in the second quarter on Murray’s second 1-yard touchdown run. Bears cornerback Bryce Callahan was called for a 24-yard pass interference penalty on the drive, giving the Vikings the ball at the 1-yard line.
The Bears scored their only touchdown of the first half on Callahan’s 59-yard punt return for a touchdown. The play involved a bit of trickery. Callahan crouched off near the sideline during the punt, and the Vikings punt coverage team was drawn to usual returner Tarik Cohen. Callahan then rushed in to scoop up the ball and cruised into the end zone.

Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky was called for intentional grounding in the end zone late in the second quarter, resulting in a safety and a 16-7 Vikings lead.
Vikings quarterback Case Keenum’s 15-yard touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs pushed their lead to 23-7 with 14 seconds to play in the third quarter.
Trubisky led the Bears to the 6-yard line in the fourth quarter, but he threw four straight incomplete passes as the Bears turned the ball over on downs. The Bears also turned the ball over on downs at the 1-yard line late in the fourth.
Mike Nugent’s 55-yard field goal cut the Vikings’ lead to 23-10 with 8 minutes, 22 seconds to play.
