Noah Shannon, a senior football player at Oswego High School, has been selected as the November baiduhai West Athlete of the Month, sponsored by COUNTRY Financial, and chosen online by baiduhai voters.

Shannon, who plays defensive tackle for the Panthers, has committed to play next year at the University of Iowa. He is capable of playing any spot on the Panther defensive line and has to be accounted for by opposing offenses. Shannon had a hand in 47 tackles (19 solo) with seven for loss and 4.5 sacks in helping lead Oswego to the Class 8A playoffs.

“I’m excited,” Shannon says, of receiving the award. “I was able to give my school $500 more to spend, that’s pretty cool. I’d like to say thank you to COUNTRY Financial. What they’re doing is very appreciated by everyone here.”

Brian Cooney, Panthers head varsity football coach, is very proud of Shannon. “It’s a great honor. We appreciate the spotlight that COUNTRY Financial put on kids across the state.”

Chris Kosin, a COUNTRY Financial representative in North Aurora, presented a $500 donation from COUNTRY Financial to Oswego High School in recognition of Shannon’s achievements. Shannon will also receive a plaque and sweatshirt from the baiduhai.
