San Jose Earthquakes have signed Swedish player Magnus Eriksson, the club announced Wednesday.

Eriksson, 27, led the Swedish Allsvenskan league with 14 goals in 25 appearances with Djugardens.

“With Magnus, we have identified an impact player that embodies the attitude we want to represent in San Jose and the technical qualities of a leading goal-scorer in Europe,” said Earthquakes general manager Jesse Fioranelli in a club statement.

“His ability to play multiple roles in the attack and his work ethic defensively were major factors in our decision to pursue him. He is in great form, having led Sweden’s top league in scoring last season, and is an elite attacking player that has maintained a high level of consistency over the last five years.”

Eriksson has spent most of his 12-year career in Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, and China, totaling 83 goals in 250 appearances as a professional. He rejoins new head coach Mikael Stahre, for whom he played at Swedish side Vasby United.
