A 39-year-old Aurora woman has been charged with illegally entering an Oswego apartment, where police say she attacked a woman with a metal pipe and a man with a box cutter.
At 3:42 a.m. Monday, deputies and officers from nearby agencies responded to reports of someone armed with a metal pipe and box cutter on the 2700 block of Light Road in Oswego, according to a news release from the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office.
After investigating, police said Angela Joy Varriale-Yelm, 39, of the 500 block of Declaration Lane, went through an unlocked bedroom window into an apartment and confronted two people, a 26-year-old man and 25-year-old woman.
Varriale-Yelm is accused of striking the woman with the pipe and cutting the man with the box cutter.
Varriale-Yelm was recently in a dating relationship with the man, according to the sheriff’s office.
A third person who had been inside the apartment got out and called 911.
Officers arrested Varriale-Yelm, who is charged with four counts of home invasion, all class X felonies; class 2 aggravated domestic battery; class 3 aggravated battery; and class 4 criminal trespass to residence.

Kendall County court records indicate her bail was set Tuesday at $75,000 with 10 percent to apply for bond. An order to appoint a public defender to represent her was also filed Tuesday.
She’s due to appear in court Thursday morning before Judge Timothy J. McCann.
Varriale-Yelm was out on bond in a felony drug case in neighboring Kane County, court records show. She was charged Oct. 22 with possession of a controlled substance and has a Wednesday court date scheduled with Kane County Circuit Judge Donald Tegeler.
Both people who were attacked declined medical treatment from Oswego Fire Department personnel on scene.
They later drove themselves to Rush Copley Medical Center with injuries not considered life-threatening, according to the sheriff’s office.
