Three Chicago men have been charged in connection with a burglary and car theft spree that sparked a manhunt in Elmhurst, authorities said.

Authorities allege that Tyrone Wilson, 19, of the 6700 block of South Chappel Avenue; Deanthony Webb, 23, of the 6700 block of South Paxton Avenue; and Deonte Daniel, 21, of the 6900 block of South Clyde Avenue, entered more than 20 unlocked cars and several unlocked garages looking for items to steal. They also allege the three and another, unidentified male suspect stole two cars during the brief crime spree that ended Monday morning when someone called to report a prowler around a garage.

About 5 a.m. Monday, Elmhurst police responded to the call and found the four trying to leave the area in a pair of stolen cars. When the drivers of each stolen car tried to flee, they were involved in a crash, prompting all four to flee on foot, according to a news release from the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office.

Elmhurst police and other local departments searched the area and found Daniel hiding in a nearby garage. Police also recovered a handgun from inside the building. Webb and Wilson were found walking on the street, the release stated. There was no information about the fourth suspect.

All three were charged with three counts of burglary and one count of possession of a stolen motor vehicle — all felonies — and each was ordered held in lieu of $250,000 bail at a bond hearing Tuesday morning in the DuPage County Courthouse.
