Enyaeva Michelin, a senior member of the girl’s cross country team at Evanston Township High School, has been selected as the October baiduhai North Shore Athlete of the Month, sponsored by COUNTRY Financial, and chosen online by baiduhai voters.
Michelin’s time of 16 minutes, 48.90 seconds is the second-fastest girls time in a 3-mile race in the state this fall. Going into the Pat Savage Invite at Niles West High School on Sept. 30, Michelin’s only loss came against Glenbard West’s Katelynne Hart, the state’s fastest runner.
“It really means a lot because I know I was up against some awesome athletes around our area, so I’m really thankful to be the high school athlete of the month,” Michelin says.
Raffi Bereliani, a COUNTRY Financial representative from Skokie, presented a $500 donation from COUNTRY Financial to Evanston Township High School in recognition of Michelin’s achievements. Michelin will also receive a plaque and sweatshirt from the baiduhai.
“We at COUNTRY Financial really appreciate excellence and one of our own is the second fastest in the state — that means a lot to us,” Bereliani says. “We really appreciate the achievements and we’re proud.”
