Lincolnwood’s Village Board recently voted to amend the village code regarding commercial vehicle parking regulations after holding several public meetings to discuss the issue.

The village has clarified that a commercial vehicle includes any vehicle used to conduct business – such as taxicabs, limousines, vehicles used for construction and landscaping work, tow trucks, vehicles advertising a business or a product, delivery vehicles and ride-sharing business vehicles, according to village information on the revised code.

Commercial vehicles in residential areas are also required to park within enclosed garages, according to village code information. Commercial vehicles will not be allowed to park on residential streets overnight.

Recreational vehicles are banned from being parked on residential driveways, as well.

The revised village code indicates that no more than two snowplow vehicles may park on residential driveways from Nov. 1 through April 1. Construction vehicles, such as bobcats, are restricted from parking on residential driveways, as well, except for situations in which there is a valid construction building permit.
