Quick! Think of something interesting to say at dinner Friday night. If nothing’s coming to you, here are your conversation starters for the weekend.

Wanna play a game?

Horror film fanatics get ready; the revival of the “Saw” franchise is hitting theaters worldwide Oct. 27. “Jigsaw”—the first film in the franchise since 2010’s “Saw VII”—is set over a decade after the death of Jigsaw and follows an investigation as mutilated bodies are found throughout the city. Remember 2010, a simpler time when “Saw” movies were the scariest things in our lives?

Slouching towards the big screen

Netflix film “Joan Didion: The Center Will Not Hold” will hit the streaming service Oct. 27 after its premiere in New York earlier this month. The film is a documentary on the life of prolific literary journalist Joan Didion, who has published numerous books and essays focusing on American culture. Didion’s nephew, Griffin Dunne, directed the documentary.

The digit: $14.5 million

That’s how much musician Frank Ocean would have had to pay if he hadn’t won a libel lawsuit filed against him earlier this year by his father, Calvin Cooksey. In 2016, after the Pulse nightclub tragedy, Ocean posted on Tumblr that in the past his father had used slurs in reference to the LGBTQ community. Cooksey was seeking $14.5 million in damages, claiming that the post had cost him “future financial opportunities.”

Making history

“Playboy” will feature its first ever transgender playmate, French model Ines Rau, in the magazine’s November/December 2017 issue. Rau has appeared in the magazine before, but will now be considered an official playmate model. The issue will also pay tribute to the recently deceased Hugh Hefner, founder of “Playboy.”

#BalanceTonPorc

After the past few weeks of women and men coming forward with stories of being sexually assaulted, what’s the next step? France has an idea. The country is developing new legislation taking steps to solve the problem of street harassment. The hashtag #BalanceTonPorc, which translates to “expose your pig,” paralleled the #MeToo hashtag on social media. The French government has proposed fines for men who show aggressive behavior towards women on the street.
