Two men and a boy are in custody after crashing a stolen car and attempting to flee the scene in the South Shore neighborhood Sunday night, according to Chicago police.
Police responded to a person-with-a-gun call in the 6700 block of South Chappel Avenue around 8:30 p.m., where they saw a man in an alley hop into a Lexus with three others inside.
The car then took off from police before crashing into another vehicle in the 6700 block of South Cornell Avenue, police said.
Four men ran from the Lexus, but only three were detained and arrested, according to police. A single passenger from the other vehicle was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries.
No weapons were recovered from the scene, police said, but the Lexus had been reported stolen earlier in the day from the 6900 block of North Monon Avenue.
The two adults arrested were identified by police as Alexander Payne, 25, and Devin Reed, 18. The third was a 16-year-old boy who was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital with minor injuries, police said. All three were arrested around 8:42 p.m. in the 1600 block of East Marquette Road.
Payne and the juvenile were charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass into a vehicle. Reed was charged with felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle and felony criminal damage to property, in addition to traffic violations, police said.
