Quick! Think of something interesting to say at dinner Friday night. If nothing’s coming to you, here are your conversation starters for the weekend.

The digit: 1922

Halloween is just around the corner, so it’s no surprise that yet another Stephen King adaptation is coming out this weekend. “1922,” a Netflix film adaptation of King’s novella by the same name, follows Wilfred James’ confession to the murder of his wife, who he believes is haunting him. The film hits Netflix Oct. 20, a little over a month after “It”—an adaptation of King’s infamous novel—topped the box office charts.

Women get loud

Women across Twitter and other social media platforms are speaking out. First, there was the #WomenBoycottTwitter movement after actress Rose McGowan’s Twitter account was suspended when she spoke out against misogyny and abuse in Hollywood. Then, women began posting about their abuse and harassment stories under the hashtag #MeToo, which black activist Tarana Burke originally coined in 2006. All of this comes in the aftermath of Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein being publicly accused of sexual assault and harassment by dozens of women including Ashley Judd, Gwyneth Paltrow and Cara Delevingne. In light of the scandal, the Academy of Motion Picture and Sciences announced that Weinstein has been expelled from the organization.

Fur free

Italian fashion house Gucci has announced that it will be going fur free starting with its Spring/Summer 2018 collection. At that time, the remaining unsold fur items—priced at up to $56,000 on the brand’s website—will be auctioned off for charity to benefit animal rights organizations Humane Society International and LAV.

Getting friendly

The second trailer for serial killer biopic “My Friend Dahmer” has been released. The film is based on a graphic novel by John Backderf, who was friends with Jeffrey Dahmer when the two were still teenagers. Dahmer is played by Ross Lynch, a relatively unknown former Disney Channel star. The film, which currently has a release date of Nov. 3, gives viewers a look into Dahmer’s younger years and the clues pointing to what he would later become.

Halloremixed

Trent Reznor, co-founder of Nine Inch Nails, has released his remix of John Carpenter’s classic 1978 “Halloween” theme music just in time for the holiday. Reznor, who scored the music for the films “The Social Network,” “Gone Girl” and “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” worked with Nine Inch Nails partner Atticus Ross on the track, which is part of a larger project where the pair rework other classic Carpenter scores.
