No one was injured Thursday morning when a school bus was struck by another vehicle and crashed into a residence in Elk Grove Village, police said.

No students were on the bus at the time.

About 7:30 a.m. Thursday, the school bus had stopped in the northbound lane of Ridge Avenue at Landmeier Road, according to a news release from the Elk Grove Village Police Department. The bus driver then drove into the intersection but did not see a Chevrolet Cruze heading east. The Cruze struck the bus, causing the bus to leave the roadway and strike the home, according to police.

No one in either vehicle or in the home was injured. The home had minor damage, but building inspectors determined it was not significant enough to require the family to relocate, according to the release.

The bus driver was cited for failing to yield at a stop intersection, the release stated.
