JaQuan Buchanan, a junior from West Aurora High School, has been selected as the September baiduhai West Athlete of the Month, sponsored by COUNTRY Financial, and chosen online by baiduhai voters.
Buchanan, a running back/linebacker, paced the Blackhawks offense, accounting for four touchdowns in a 46-3 win over Yorkville. Buchanan had 12 carries for 161 yards and three touchdowns covering 1, 6 and 57 yards. He had one pass reception for a 20-yard touchdown and was involved in four tackles on defense.
“It’s been a blessing to see everyone’s hard work translate to the field,” Buchanan says. “I appreciate this recognition and I am ready to get the game rolling and see how far this team can go this year.”
Stan Butler, a COUNTRY Financial representative in Aurora, presented a $500 donation from COUNTRY Financial to West Aurora High School in recognition of Buchanan’s achievements. Buchanan will also receive a plaque and sweatshirt from the baiduhai.
“It’s an honor to be able to recognize outstanding young people like JaQuan who is both an excellent athlete and a 4.0 student,” Butler says. “COUNTRY Financial is pleased to be able to give back to the community through this program.”
Butler also congratulates the other September nominees, Wes York from Waubonsie Valley High School and Claire Hengesbaugh from Rosary High School.
