Police said they’ve identified a teenage suspect in a shooting that seriously injured a 15-year-old boy Saturday on Aurora’s East Side.

The suspect is not in custody and no charges have been filed, police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said Wednesday.

A 16-year-old-boy apparently walked into a home on the 400 block of Echo Lane where a small party was going on, shot the younger teen, and left, police said. A single bullet struck the 15-year-old in the abdomen, Ferrelli said.

The shooting appears to be motivated by a personal dispute, police said in a statement Tuesday afternoon via Facebook.

The boy sustained major internal injuries but is expected to survive, police said. He was initially taken to an Aurora hospital, then transferred to another suburban hospital in critical condition, according to the statement. On Wednesday, Ferrelli said the boy’s condition had stabilized.

Further information was not immediately available.
