A Cub killed a bear when he was a Ray.

But closer Wade Davis didn’t make the cut when USA Today’s Ted Berg had some fun in a story headlined: “The 11 MLB postseason players best suited to conquering a bear.”

Two Cubs were included on the list, which was topped by right-hander Jake Arrieta.

“Everything about his physique and demeanor just screams ‘guy who could take down a bear,'” Berg wrote.

John Lackey was ranked ninth.

Davis actually killed a 300-pound bear with a crossbow during an off day in Toronto in 2010.

I playfully asked Berg on Twitter whether that excluded Davis from inclusion on his list. Berg replied that it didn’t, but his was a “no-weapons scenario.”

“Even so, he seems a reasonable bet,” Berg replied.
