
A man tried to sexually assault a girl who was walking home from school in the South Austin neighborhood Wednesday night, according to Chicago police.
The girl was walking east in the 5500 block of West West End Avenue around 7:40 p.m. when a man ran up and grabbed her, pulled her into an alley and threw her against a wall, police said.
The man held the girl against the wall and attempted to remove her pants, but he fled after the girl’s cellphone rang, according to police.
The attacker was described as black, with a dark complexion and a full beard, about 45 to 60 years old, around 5-foot-7 and 170 pounds. He was wearing black cargo pants, a gray zip-up hoodie and gym shoes.
