Brazilian playmaker Kaká announced he will not renew his contract with Orlando City SC once it expires at the end of the current MLS season, the player annouced on Wednesday.

“My decision right now is to not renew my contract with Orlando City as a player,” Kaká announced in a press conference at the team’s facilities.

“I will honor this jersey until the end, as always.”

The 35-year-old midfielder also said his physical condition was not a factor in his decision to leave the club, and did not reveal any details on his next career move.

“Pain wasn’t and won’t be the base of my decision. As a soccer player, everybogy has some sort of pain, and it won’t be in the next step of my career,” said Kaká.

“What’s next for me is just the moment. The only thing I know right now is that I’m not going to be an Orlando City player next season.

Kaká ends a three-year stint with the Florida side, having arrived in 2014 as the franchise’s first designated player, ahead of its inaugural MLS season in 2015.

The Brazilian finishes with 24 goals and 22 assists in 74 MLS matches. His final match will take place Sunday, when Orlando City hosts the Columbus Crew.
